Hey guys! My name is Traci Foster. I’m 22 years old and a junior here at IUSB. I’m majoring in mass communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in psychology. I hope to pursue a career in event planning. I love the communication studies program here at IUSB, and I’m especially excited to be interning at The Preface, the voice of the IUSB community.
I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and I’m a huge Royals and Jayhawks fan. I moved to South Bend at a young age and attended Saint Joseph’s High School. Go Indians! When I graduated from high school, I decided that I wanted to move away from home and attend an out of state university where I knew no one, and I ended up at Kent State University in Ohio studying photojournalism.
During my first semester I really struggled balancing academics, making friends and work. I’m a very friendly, outgoing, and social person who never had trouble getting excited about writing and photography before, so I decided Kent State wasn’t the place I was meant to be at the time and moved back to South Bend. I decided to enroll at IUSB until I knew what my next move would be, and then I fell in love with the communication studies program, and here I am!
I have absolutely no regrets with my decision to pursue a degree here at IUSB, and I love being a part of this community. I can honestly say that I love sharing my learning experience with the classmates and professors I’ve come to know over the past three years, and I couldn’t picture myself being this happy any place else.
Believe it or not, IUSB and communications are not the only things I get excited about. Wine, photography and my cat, Oliver, are a few of my favorite things. I also love to cook and travel. I love all the seasons, and you will rarely hear me complain about winter in Indiana. However, I am counting down the days until my vacation to New York this summer. I also love live music, and I can’t wait to see Dave Matthews Band during their summer tour this year.
I spend a lot of time on campus, so if you ever see me, feel free to say hey! And if you ever have any questions about communications or just need someone to go wine tasting with, I’m your girl!
