Lady Titan Volleyball brought in a packed crowd on Wednesday evening and faced the rivaling Bethel Pilots for the first home game of the season. served as a tribute to the troops.
The university gave free admission to veterans and current military members, and a portion of the proceeds was given to benefit Operation: Quiet Comfort. Operation: Quiet Comfort is a national nonprofit organization that ships out materials that are needed by troops as well as providing comfort to troops in times of need. Both the Lady Titans and Pilots came together before the match and sported warm-up shirts in honor of the troops. The beginning of the match started with a special national anthem that featured a tribute to the troops. The Lady Titans and Pilots alternated around the American flag with members of the military during the pre-game proceedings.
The Titans started off the match with a battle during the first game, securing the first lead of the series, only to later lose it and the first game 27-25. The second game also resulted in a defeat by the Lady Pilots with a score of 25-20, giving the Pilots the lead after two.
With the third game coming into play, the Titans came out on top with a score of 25-19. This was the mark for the Titans and served as the time for taking over the rivalry with the Pilots.
The Lady Titans continued their lead in the game with a fourth game score of 25-21 and 17-15 for the fifth game, resulting in the Lady Titans’ first home victory of the season. After a rocky first two games, the Lady Titans came out on top with the win, a final of 3-2.
