Students upset over strange smell

An odor resembling sewage has been wafting over campus

A strange smell on campus has left many IU South Bend students baffled and disgusted.

The smell, which seems to be most noticeable near the fountain and in front of the Student Activity Center, is still being investigated according to Director of Facilities Management Michael Prater.

The odor seems to have had an overwhelmingly negative effect on IUSB students.

“It’s disgusting and they need to do something about it” said Alexis Youngs, a student at IUSB.

“I think it’s annoying. I think they should probably figure out what it is,” said Ben Bijkstra, another IUSB student. “It’s really bad in the spring specifically. It kind of makes the campus in general seem less nice and welcoming.”

Some students have even started planning routes to avoid the odor-infested areas.

“It doesn’t bother me because I take the least convenient route that avoids that area” said Michael Huggins, another IUSB student. “It’s the least convenient path, but it’s also the least smelly.”

The Preface will continue to investigate the source of the odor.
