I grew up on a farm, and yes, I have rode a cow, chased a chicken, sheared a sheep, etc. despite my tattoos, piercings, and often brightly colored hair.
During high school, I won awards for my art, but once I got to college, I lost interest in it. After switching from a double major in art and psychology to just psychology, Mandi Steffey (staff writer) finally convinced me to start drawing comics for The Preface.
I wish I could say that I think about what I’m going to draw for a long time before I ever decide on anything, but I really don’t. I just try to think of something that’s funny to me and at least one other person, and then I draw it. My cat usually tries to help by laying on the paper and trying to eat my pens, so that makes it more of a challenge.
I’m always looking for new, funny things around campus to draw, so if anyone has a great idea for a comic or just a really funny thought about something, let me know! Even if I never draw your idea, I’ll definitely still enjoy hearing it!
