For the third year, IU South Bend student Kayla Walker will honor her brother by walking in the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Muscle Walk with the team she founded—Alex’s Angels.

“My team has continued to grow over the years and includes my closest friends and family as well as some of our Disney Club members,” said Walker. “This year the club played a big part in helping with fundraising for the team and just spreading the word about the cause.”

Stewart’s brother was affected with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which almost always affects males.

“I put this team together to again honor my brother Alex and support the numerous other MDA families that deal with muscular dystrophy as well as several other muscular disorders.”

The walk honors adults and children with any of the more than 40 muscle diseases in MDA’s program. The event also raises funds to help the MDA foster research and provide vital services to families affected by neuromuscular disease.

The walk will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 at the Coveleski Stadium, located at 501 South West St. in South Bend. Registration begins at noon.
