Over Valentine’s Day weekend, the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts debuted “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. Based on the original Peanuts comics by Charles Schulz, this musical tells the story of Charlie Brown and his friends in their everyday adventures, including some of the most iconic moments from the comic strips.
The show included a small cast of six people, starring Isaac King as the titular Charlie Brown, Kaydence Forsyth as Sally, Taavi Crumbley as Linus, Ellie Davis as Lucy, Jordan Keen as Schroeder and Mila Kaser as Snoopy.
“I have honestly loved all of the music. It is fantastic – it’s just good, cheerful fun,” King said. “The message is phenomenal. It’s just like a mundane happiness, it’s exactly what the world needs right now.”

From outstanding vocals to funny jokes, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” is nothing to say “good grief” about. The set and costumes were very immersive, and the use of video projections was especially cool. There were many laughs from the audience throughout the show, and there were many tear-jerking moments as well. The ending was bittersweet, as it closed out with the song titled “Happiness,” which was all about the characters finding happiness in their lives. It was clear that both the cast and the audience had a blast during the show.
If you missed this show, don’t worry! The theatre department will put on the musical “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” this April.
