The recent closure of the local LGBTQIA+ nightclub known as “Dockside” has left the locals wondering what is going to happen to the space, which sits along Lincoln Way just yards from River Crossing Campus Housing. IU South Bend has purchased the property.
The club’s Facebook page left a message for its patrons in October 2024 stating, “As you most likely are aware Dockside has closed its doors for good. We would like to thank the community for a decade of good times and patronage. We would also like to thank all those who performed and gave the patrons a hell of a show every weekend.”
As it stands, there is no solid plan on what is going to be done with the property, because the university is “still assessing the building use options,” according to Interim Deputy Chancellor Andy Williams.
While it’s probably safe to say that Dockside won’t be a nightclub anymore, no definitive judgments can be made about how IU South Bend might use the space and what opportunities may be in store.
