The Student Government Association approved a funding request from the Advertising and Marketing Club at their weekly meeting on Jan. 31. Since 2016, the club has attended the annual Advertising and Marketing Federation conference in Chicago to connect with students and employers throughout the Midwest.
This year’s conference will be held Feb. 7 at Columbia University. The club gave a presentation explaining how the event will benefit students and how they will bring experience and connections back to campus.
“We are welcoming students from different majors to attend this event so that every student will get to meet and network with different employees and achieve heights in their careers,” Sonia Luna, ACMC president, said.
The SGA senators confidently agreed to fund upon the club’s request for up to $1,682 to cover tickets and travel, stating that it will benefit most students on campus.
Vice Chancellor for Student Engagement Kory Vitangeli announced that IU South Bend will host Family Day on March 8. Instead of the usual brunch, they will serve lunch, and they are expecting a larger turnout due to enrollment increases from last fall.
The SGA concluded by appointing sophomore Bailey Boyd, a finance major, to fill an open Senate seat.
The SGA meets every Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in SAC 225. Meetings are public, and students are encouraged to attend.
