The Titans Men’s Basketball team lost their home season opener against Grace Christian 66-59 on Oct. 25. In the first half, the Titans fell behind, with the Grace Tigers taking an eight-point lead. In the second half, the Titans fought to a six-point lead, 48-42, with 10 minutes left in the game.
Sophomore Nick Mullin had an outstanding game for the Titans. He finished the game with 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Along with Mullin, senior Quentez Columbus had 12 points.
The Titans then took the road on Oct. 29 against Lawrence Tech. The Titans won 80-61 with the first 12 points in the first five minutes of the game. Going into halftime, the Titans kept a 20-point lead with a score of 45-27. Three players scored in double digits. Again, Mullin finished with 28 points, Quentez with 13 points and Collin Schmidt with 11 points. The Titans take the road again on Sat. Nov. 9 in Mishawaka at Bethel University at 7 p.m.
The Titans Women’s Basketball team won their season opener last Saturday, Nov. 2 against Mount Vernon Nazarene 67-62. In the first quarter, the Titans took a 12-point lead with a score of 24-12. Fifth-year player Jazmen Watts started the game with 12 points, along with Senior Tenleigh Phelps having seven points.
Going into halftime, the Titans took a three-point fall to the Cougars 14-11. To finish the game, the Titans pulled through with a nine-point lead to secure their first win of the season. The Titans take the road on Nov. 9 in Adrian, Michigan vs. Siena Heights University at 5 p.m.
