On Sept. 12, IU South Bend’s new club Hoosiers for Life held their callout meeting. President Anne Wolfe and Vice President Mary Garcia covered their vision for the group and upcoming activities.
Both Wolfe and Garcia led pro-life, anti-abortion clubs at their high schools and have had experiences at anti-abortion protests. The sophomores founded this club over the past summer after finding a lack of one on campus. They found music professor Dr. Jorge Muñiz to be their faculty adviser and made some club merchandise through the small business Running Around Screen Printing.
They are looking for more students interested in leadership, specifically in treasury, event planning, local outreach and photography.
Wolfe and Garcia said they are very prepared for their events this year. Their first event will be a sidewalk chalking in front of the Mishawaka Planned Parenthood building. According to the description on Titan Atlas, they will write “positive, encouraging messages to women struggling in their decision making” as well as “bold messages of pro-life affirmation.”
This event will take place on Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. They also want to participate in local and national March for Life protests, fundraise for women in need and bring in doctors for educational events.
If you have any interest in this club, you can find them on Titan Atlas or on their Instagram page, @hoosiersforlifeiusb.
