This week’s meeting began with an approved funding request for the Latino Student Union’s Hispanic Heritage Festival. The event will take place in the Grill on Sept. 25 at 3:30 p.m. The LSU hopes to promote diversity and a sense of belonging on campus, inviting all people to come and enjoy the event. There will be food and entertainment, including musicians and dancers.
Senator Chaudhari was presented with this week’s Senator Shout-Out. Senator Chaudhari has gone above and beyond in her duties for the SGA while also balancing personal obligations and multiple research projects.
Adviser Scott Strittmatter reminded the SGA that, as things begin to pick up for students, IU South Bend offers free counseling, as well as the online program “Tell All Mental Health”, which offers 24/7 support for struggling students.
He also recommended that students attend a multitude of on-campus events. Sex After Dark: Let’s Taco About It is a Q&A-style panel where students are encouraged to ask and learn about sex and relationships, which will take place on Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. on the fifth floor of the library. The American Democracy Project is hosting a Presidential Watch Party in the community building at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Community Building. Finally, Think Fast Game Show, where students can earn prizes and money, will be taking place today, Sept. 11, at 11:30 a.m. in Fireside.
The SGA meets every Friday from 10 a.m. to noon in SAC 206 or 225. Meetings are open to the public, and students are encouraged to attend.
